The 30th Celebration launches tomorrow. Here is what the 25th's Classic Collection is worth today

A 30-card Classic Collection of gold-bordered reprints arrives on 16 September 2026. The 25th anniversary did the same in 2021; five years on, its reprints trade at a fraction of the originals and carry far larger PSA 10 populations.

The 30th Celebration expansion releases on 16 September 2026, the first Pokémon TCG set to launch worldwide on a single day (Bulbapedia, "30th Celebration (TCG)"; Dexerto, updated 28 August 2026). It carries a 30-card Classic Collection, "30 reprinted cards from previous Pokémon Trading Card Game sets, from Base Set to the modern day", each with a gold border, plus thirty Pikachu variants and a new Futuristic Rare rarity. The 25th anniversary set, Celebrations, did the same thing in October 2021 with a 25-card Classic Collection. That subset has been in the catalog since 15 September 2026, so here is what five years did to it.

The reprints against the originals

TCGplayer market prices via PokemonPriceTracker, read 15 September 2026, near mint, unlimited printing for the originals. PSA 10 populations from BetterPop's 9 September 2026 build.

  • Charizard 4/102: Classic Collection $165.42, PSA 10 population 35,964. Base Set unlimited $869.02, population 489. The reprint has 74 PSA 10s for every one of the original.
  • Blastoise 2/102: $14.05 against $224.87 (original PSA 10 population 381).
  • Venusaur 15/102: $10.08 against $181.61 (588).
  • Rocket's Zapdos 15/132: $3.66 against Gym Challenge's $105.20. This pair is the one that broke the region-spread screen on 14 September, when Swedish listings for the reprint were being compared to the original; the screen now insists the title names the original set.
  • Reshiram 113/114 and Zekrom 114/114: $15.80 and $15.75 against Black & White's $94.87 and $117.60. PSA 10 populations 8,018 and 9,157 for the reprints, 267 and 281 for the originals.
  • Umbreon ★ 17/17: $92.85, population 19,697, the second most valuable card in the subset. Birthday Pikachu 24/25: $31.64, population 26,973.

All 25 Classic Collection cards together come to $502 at market on 15 September, and Charizard is a third of that. The concentration screen has the subset at 59% of its value in its top three cards.

What the numbers say and do not say

Two things are visible. A reprint with an anniversary stamp is priced as a new card, not as the card it depicts: every pair above sits between 4% and 19% of the original. And reprints get graded in volume: the Classic Collection's PSA 10 counts run from eight thousand to thirty-six thousand, where the vintage originals run from a few hundred.

What the numbers do not say is what tomorrow's set will do. The 30th Celebration's Classic Collection is thirty cards from a different list, at different print volumes, in a market five years older. This page records the last comparable case with its figures and dates; the reader draws the line, or declines to.
